Our Choir

Music is vital to the Sunday service at UUCF. Music helps to set the mood for the service and enhances the spiritual experience of the congregation.

Consistent with the Unitarian Universalist approach to theology, our choir sings sacred and secular music in a variety of genres. When choosing the selections for a particular service, our Choir director focuses on music that will enhance the sermon message and the theme of the service.

Our Minister of Music, Judi Herz, has been directing our choir for the past 11 years. She holds a degree in music and a teaching credential from San Diego State University. She has worked as a music teacher in the Anaheim City School district, directed the Anaheim City Singers, and currently sings with the Orange Community Master Chorale.

Our choir currently has 22 members and is open to anyone who would like to join. Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings. In addition to singing for our Sunday services, our choir also performs at a number of our social events and participates annually in a choral festival with several other UU choirs.

We have recently formed a drumming circle and are in the process of forming a hand chime choir, both under the direction of our Minister of Music.

Earth teach me limitation as the ant which crawls on the ground. Earth teach me freedom as the eagle which soars in the sky. Earth teach me to forget myself as melted snow forgets its life.
