Preschool and Kindergarten:
Celebrating Me and My World
Children learned that they can explore our world by paying attention to the way things feel.  The group heard the story,My Five Senses by Akili and played with play dough.

Grades 1 and 2:
Creating Home

Children explored the idea of "hearth and home," including the literal and metaphorical definition of hearth.  In addition to making their own hearths, the group talked about ways that they share warmth with their families.

Grades 3 - 5:
Toolbox of Faith

A piece of chalk symbolizes the democratic process, a value imbedded in the fifth Unitarian Universalist Principle: We value the right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and in society.  The children learned about and experienced various modes of democratic process.

Grades 6 - 8:
The Gospel According to the Simpsons

Middle school youth watched the Simpson episode "Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment."  The group discussed the Ten Commandments and compared them to our UU Principles and Sources.  They also talked about moral dilemas that we all face and those that challenge teens.
If we are to reach real peace in this world, and if we are to carry on a real war against war, we shall have to begin with the children.
- Mohandas K. Gandhi
