DRUUMM Village: Beloved Gathering (National Conference and Retreat)

Diverse & Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries (DRUUMM), an integrated auxiliary organization affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). We are the oldest and largest Black, Indigenous and People of Color collective in Unitarian Universalism. We organized for mutual support and to advance an anti-racist, intersectional, multicultural faith. We are led by our mission and values that uplift care, spiritual growth, liberation, and more.

People who self-identify as White are encouraged to belong and organize with UU Allies for Racial Equity, our close partner.

We invite People of Color from across North America and around the world to join us in person to cultivate spiritual resilience, foster transformative connections, and empower People of Color across Unitarian Universalist communities.

DRUUMM’s national gathering is when our community pauses from the pace of daily organizing and ministry to reconnect with one another, deepen our spiritual grounding, and strengthen our collective vision.

We will gather at Unity Village (just outside Kansas City, Missouri) for 4 days of worship, conversation, learning, and celebration among Unitarian Universalists of color and our communities of care.

Registration is on a sliding scale and includes the conference program, meals and snacks, and transportation between Kansas City International Airport and Unity Hotel. Registration closes on September 10, 2026.

WHAT IS DRUUMM?

DRUUMM is the oldest and largest Unitarian Universalist People of Color ministry and anti-racist community organization based in North America. We are an integrated auxiliary organization affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) and operate as a 501(c)3 as defined by the United States IRS. We are supported by DRUUMM Members — individuals who self-identify as People of Color and affirm our Unitarian Universalist mission and values. People who self-identify as White are encouraged to belong and organize with UU Allies for Racial Equity, our close partner.

DRUUMM traces our lineage to Black and African American Unitarian and Universalist communities, Latino/a UU Networking Association, ministers and religious professionals of color, and youth and young adults of color who have organized to resist racism, nurture our faith formation, and build the beloved community.

DRUUMM has a growing membership of UU People of Color from every district and region. Led by a dedicated team of volunteers and several part-time staff, DRUUMM continues to lead efforts to fulfill the Journey Towards Wholeness Resolution towards becoming an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, multicultural UUA, creating spaces for youth, young adults, and our families of color. We organize to heal, work collectively, and steward an effective organization that engages and empowers new leadership and members. Our Steering Committee is elected by DRUUMM members at the annual meeting. Our Executive Committee and Steering Committee each meet monthly.
