Social Action Tradition
Unitarians and Universalists have long worked for social justice in the United States and abroad, advocating for the free practice of religion, helping to abolish slavery, marching for civil rights, supporting a woman’s right to reproductive health, promoting LGBTQIA+ rights, and fighting for racial, environmental and economic justice.
The UUCF Social Action Team sustains a robust movement of social justice action, to continue making a difference in our congregation, the larger community, and the world. Guided by our Unitarian Universalist shared values and principles, we seek to work for the vulnerable in areas such as housing and food security, education, and racial, reproductive, immigration, and environmental justice.
Our Mission is to coordinate acts of witness, creating a forum for social justice, study and action. We embrace service, education and advocacy through task forces, community organizing, study groups, alliance-building and more.
There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer, whether you have ten minutes or a whole day. You can be a part of shining a light of hope and love.
2026 UUCF Social Action Focus Areas
Adhering to our First UU Principle of respecting the inherent worth and dignity of all people, our congregants are informed and empowered advocates and activists. With our UUCF pledge of “service as our prayer” and to “serve human need,” we have identified most pressing concerns for our community as the following:
Disability Rights
Education
Reproductive Justice
Immigration Rights
Housing & Food Security
