Camp deBenneville Pines

Camp de Benneville Pines is tranquil mountain retreat, a place where you can commune with nature and find the solitude of a mountain glen.

Every November, we join with the nearby Long Beach congregation to have a weekend retreat at Camp de Benneville Pines. All UU members and friends--singles, couples, and families—are invited to attend. You naturally get to know each other better and build community spirit.  There will be singing, hiking, children’s activities, workshops, and relaxing.

For 2025, November 14-16 is our retreat weekend. Dale Botts is organizing this weekend. Register online or get a paper registration form on Sunday.

When we belong to the earth, then we also belong to each other and to every other life form upon the earth

Southern California is one of the few regions to have a UU Camp. It is nestled in a tall pine and oak forest of the San Bernardino Mountains, near Angelus Oaks on Big Bear Mountain. It’s a short walk to nearby Jenks Lake. It is on the way to Big Bear Lake but also very close to Redlands.

Camp de Benneville Pines is tranquil mountain retreat, a place where you can commune with nature and find the solitude of a mountain glen. It offers a place to contemplate and to explore your own spiritual path alone or with others, as you wish. It is a place to bask in the warmth of a welcoming community of peers. An escape to the clear air and rustic beauty of our UU cabin camp in the mountains. Cabins have hot showers and comfortable mattresses. Delicious meals are served in the lodge.

Camp de Benneville Pines welcomes a year-round community of campers of all ages for three- to seven-day camp and retreat sessions. Camps include Youth Camps, Theme Camps for AdultsFamily Camps  and others. Check out the many groups on the camp calendar, such as men’s and women’s retreat weekends, yoga camps, Music in the Mountains, Thanksgiving weekend where a sumptuous meal is provided (that you don’t have to cook), Camp Summer Break for Adults, Art Camp, and much more. The UU congregations in the Pacific Southwest service area are the owners of Camp and invite you to enjoy all it has to offer.

There are so many ways to volunteer for CdBP.  You may rake the grounds twice a year to help us comply with the Fire Regulations about insuring there is defensible space around the cabins.  You may help with our numerous construction projects such as replacing decks.  You may help with making the cabins more comfortable.  You may help remotely with writing policies, marketing, finance, the annual assembly, governance, or stewardship.  There is a place for you to help, and we can often create a way for you to help keep Camp de Benneville Pines (CdBP) running smoothly.

Every year, by continuing to ask for unrestricted donations monthly, annually, and written into your Will and Trust help sustain the ability of this Unitarian Universalist campus, Camp de Benneville Pines provide a retreat to spend quality time together for days on end recharge your sense of peace and strengthen your sense of belonging.
