Communications & Outreach

Welcome! At UUCF, our goal is to nourish relationships by cultivating an inclusive, diverse safe space where all seekers feel a genuine, deep sense of belonging. We want to make sure that visitors, members, and the curious can easily navigate and access all we have to offer, from community service and public educational events, to thoughtful small group studies and discussions, to fun and light social gatherings and celebrations. If you have any questions, including media requests, or wish to get involved, reach out to us at outreach@uufullerton.org.
Committee Policies & Procedures
We envision a future where our light shines far and bright, drawing the many into Beloved Congregation at UUCF. In this transformative space, we grow together and take up our shared responsibility to dismantle the systems of oppression across our internal and external landscapes, restoring our interdependent web of life to wholeness.

As the Communications & Outreach Committee, we serve as the architects of our vision, focusing our energy on three strategic pillars:
We Shine
Visibility: Powered by the light of unconditional love, we illuminate vibrant pathways of connection where seekers see themselves reflected without being asked to assimilate into a rigid default culture.
Instead, all are welcomed into a living practice of relational pluralism centered on diverse gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural expressions, body types, modes of communication, and relational styles.
To embody this, we actively decenter dominant culture, heteronormativity, economic privilege, and ableism. We embed accessible, expansive design and eliminate financial, gendered, and physical gatekeeping from our public front doors—ensuring our communications, events, and community spaces are fully affirming, dignified, and open to all.
We Grow
Congregational Nurture: We foster internal transformation and collective growth by actively dismantling oppressive structures within our own congregation. We create deeply inclusive spaces, nurture practices of mutual care, and center shared joy as vital tools for resistance and sustainability. By embedding trauma-informed communication, establishing equitable access to information and decision-making power, and removing gatekeeping, we ensure our internal practices honor the diverse, lived realities of our community and build a true Beloved Community.
We Act
Restorative Action: We mobilize our collective power through public truthtelling, prophetic witness, and bold education campaigns. We share our platforms to amplify marginalized voices, call out systemic oppression, and drive community action within and beyond Fullerton—putting our commitment to anti-oppression, economic justice, and relational pluralism into courageously visible practice.
What Does This Look Like?
Representation
Posts, videos, blogs, music, and stories about Unitarian Universalists and other people of different cultures, ages, and abilities centered on their identity, strengths, and agency, from their point of view
Accessibility
Translations of content in Spanish, alternate text for images, organized hierarcy of type size, more graphics to accompany and break up text, low tech print copies, and content that is relevant to a wider community; internal restorative conversations that challenge our biases, educating ourselves on systems of racism and oppression, clarifying the values and language of inclusion.
Restorative Education
Hosting and promoting events on systemic injustice that honor agency and independence and offer paths toward collective healing and restoration: workshops, trainings, advocacy, service projects, vigils, fundraisers, collection drives
Outreach
Our outreach programs and systems are set up to support members, volunteers, visitors, and anyone who wants to make or maintain a personal connection and pursue spiritual growth at UUCF. In accordance with our mission, our fellowship goals are:
Nurturing the Congregation: We believe that deep, loving relationships are the foundation of our spiritual home. We plan and promote events, social gatherings, and fun activities that strengthen our bonds, foster friendships, and bring us joy.
Sustaining Our Flame: We practice what we preach by caring for ourselves. We ensure our communication channels keep us connected so we can show up for one another in times of need, celebration, and transition.

Events as Our Public Witness: Our public events—whether a justice rally, an educational workshop, or a community game night—are the primary way the community experiences our covenant. Every gathering is an invitation to the public to see our light, join our journey, and build genuine, loving relationships with us.
