About the event

Join Barry Burriesci and Jean Liao for an intimate and reflective discussion about how intentional plant medicine journeys became unexpected catalysts for personal and spiritual transformation, profoundly shaping how they show up in their lives and in community. Contrary to common misconceptions, these experiences unfold within highly structured ceremonial settings, informed by robust scientific research on neuroplasticity, and are grounded in preparation, intention, and thoughtful long-term integration.

What happens when we set aside our masks, allow our defenses to soften, and open to the healing power of mindfulness and authentic connection? Through personal story and reflection, Barry and Jean will explore the deeper questions these journeys have awakened about healing, purpose, and the profound human need to be truly seen, accepted, and held.

UUCF acknowledges that this land is situated in the original ancestral homelands of the Acjachemen, Kizh, and Tongva peoples. May we have the humility and courage to help restore what has been broken, and the wisdom to live into a new solidarity with Indigenous communities and the earth.
