About the event
Hi Folks:
Last month, Wendell Berry, novelist, poet, essayist, environmental activist, cultural critic and farmer died. Closely identified with rural Kentucky, he was a fierce defender of the agrarian life and the sacredness of the earth. He viewed big agriculture as a destructive force, turning farming from a spiritual discipline into an industrialized corporate exploitation of the land . He cautioned against an idolatry of science which is used not always for good but often treats the living world as a dead machine rather than as a sacred mystery.
Although not a UU, Berry was revered as a "prophetic voice" and was an oft- quoted source in our tradition.
Come learn about the remarkable life and poetry of Wendell Berry.
We meet in Room 121, behind the Fellowship Hall, at 10:15 AM sharp.
See you there!
Dennis Spiro
